A fight back at Indy in tough conditions

A fight back at Indy in tough conditions

Indy was one of those nights where I had to dig deep. The conditions were tricky, and while a small mistake cost me early in the main, I’m proud of how I bounced back and kept charging to finish fifth.

The day started solid. I felt comfortable in qualifying and ended up with second gate pick heading into the heat. In the heat race, I was sitting fourth after the opening lap and just focused on finding a good flow. I pushed through and made it up to second with a few laps to go and held it there to the finish, which felt good heading into the main.

In the main event, I got off to a decent start and was running fourth early on, but I tipped over in the sand section on Lap 2 and went way back. From there, I just had to reset, stay focused, and start working my way forward. I made it back to fifth by the flag, which was a big effort considering I was 17th at one point.

I’ve only ridden once since Arlington because I’ve been really sick the last couple of weeks, so to come away with a top five is a positive. I’m happy with my pace, but I know I need to clean up those small mistakes if I want to keep fighting for podiums. I’m still sitting third in the championship and hungry for more.

Seattle up next. Let’s go.
